Hey there!

I am so thrilled that you are here. I can not wait to share my passion for health and wellness with you! With nearly 25 years of experience in the health field, first as a physical therapist, and more recently as a wellness and nutrition expert and coach, I believe that if we truly listen to our miraculous body, that we will find the answers we are seeking.

It was approximately 6 years ago that one of my sons (Joshua) started suffering from an auto-immune condition and extreme inflammation.  This resulted in eczema all over Joshua’s body as well as hair loss, weight loss and significant food allergies. You can read Joshua’s full story here: Joshua’s Story. After multiple visits to a variety of physicians and disappointingly not receiving a clear understanding of why my son’s body was reacting this way, I decided to look at more natural and holistic options. It is this journey of figuring out a way to help my son heal from the inside out, that led me to find my true passion, and why I am here blogging and sharing today. Nothing brings me more joy and excitement than reading or speaking to others who share in this passion. After all, our health is our greatest wealth. Wouldn’t you agree?

Today, I will share some of my favorite health tips with you. These are offered in no particular order, but I believe that if you implement these tips daily, that you will be incredibly glad of the changes that you will notice.

The first health tip is to begin each day with a positive affirmation and mindset. As someone who isn’t a morning person, I know that this may be challenging for some, but believe me, a positive start to the day, makes it easier to keep a positive outlook the remainder of the day. And, a positive mindset is EVERYTHING! I personally, have googled positive affirmations, and printed them off. And, I have saved positive affirmation images on my phone to allow me to choose one quickly and repeat at least as I first wake up. If needed, keep this positive affirmation close by, and repeat as often as you need to during the day to keep positive. Here is a short list of affirmations for you:  Positive Affirmations

My second health tip is to drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water. SO, for example if you weigh 150 lbs, your daily water intake should be no less than 75 oz of water. If you are active and sweat a lot during the day, you may need to increase this amount. Also, if you are a coffee or tea drinker, consider increasing this amount. Now, I know not everyone loves to drink water, and for those of you who fall in that category, consider drinking infused water. SO, take your favorite berries, cucumber slices, lemon slices, orange slices….you get me, right?…..and add to a pitcher or glass of water. Keep your water with your fruit of choice in the refrigerator overnight for a yummy flavored water the next day!

My third health tip is to regard your SLEEP as a gift! Sleep is so imperative to your overall health, your fat burning, your body’s ability to rejuvenate, heal and repair, to your hormone pathways, and to your body’s immunity, just to name a few……It is absolutely critical to sleep for a minimum of 7-8hrs a night, and some of you will require more…..the good news is, for those of you who are working out, or for those of you who are seeking weight loss, it has been shown that more fat burning occurs during sleep than at the gym! SCORE!!!!

My fourth health tip is to MOVE your body every day! For some of you, exercise is a pleasure. For some of you- I hear you, exercise can be a real struggle….but most of us will agree that after a good, intense, challenging workout…we feel amazing! We feel AMAZING for many reasons, one of which includes the release of endorphins, our happy hormones! SO, if you are someone who LOVES to exercise, keep going at a minimum of 30 minutes a day! Release those endorphins for a happier YOU! For those of you who have less enthusiasm for exercise, here is my suggestion….find something that you enjoy doing, whether it be hiking, brisk walking, walking your dog, swimming, dancing, playing tennis, or anything that will keep you moving for 30 minutes. Preferably, moving for 30 minutes while feeling challenged!

My fifth health tip is to EAT clean! By that, I mean eat more raw, fresh, non-processed, non-packaged and organic foods when possible. When shopping in the grocery store, stay on the perimeter of the store, as that is typically where you will find all of the fruits, vegetables, meats, and whole foods. If your diet can consist of at least 70% whole foods, you are going to feel TONS better. Here is a simple grocery list for you to optimize your nutrition: Grocery List

SO, there you have it. My 5 favorite health tips to have you to feeling better in no time. The key is, you must be consistent! I hope these tips have been helpful to you! Of course, there are many others that I will be sharing over time, but to avoid overwhelming you, I thought these 5 are a good start. Have a happy and healthy day!

I wish you much love and health always!

XOXOXO,

Deb Strauss
